The ASUS Eee Slate EP121 keeps you productive, entertained, and connected. Experience crisp, clear high definition entertainment on the 12.1-inch capacitive LED-backlit touchscreen display with finger or pen touch capabilities. Featuring a powerful Intel Core i5 processor and a solid state drive, experience snappy and smooth multitasking performance whether working on a PowerPoint presentation or viewing Flash content. With Windows 7 Home Premium, you can do all the same things as on your laptop or desktop with the added benefit of multi-touch and pen input. If you are at a desk, the included folio allows the EP121 to stand up and act as your display while you type on the included Bluetooth keyboard. You can also connect the EP121 to an external LED monitor via the mini HDMI port.
I got my hands on this system recently and I did play with it. I must say I am impressed with itPros:+ Price includes Bluetooth KeyBoard and a folio as well. $100 value at Apple rates. Doesn't come with a docking option.+ Comes with a digitizer Pen, which is very useful for hand written notes and also helps overcome some of the UI related issues with Win 7 (tiny icons, etc.)+ The boot time on this system (Press the power button --> desktop is usable) is awesome: 18-19 sec (no initial POST Messages). That is faster than iPad shutdown --> desktop.+ Media Playback is excellent whether it is H.264 or VC1 content. And the CPU does it so easily+ Thermal: Excellent. After hours of use (media playback, streaming, etc), the bottom surface is pretty normal temperature. Absolutely no heat. Vents are the top and bottom middle. Fan exists, but is very quiet. Design is good.+ 12.1" panel size and 1280x800 resolution are a good combination. Text on the screen looks the right size.+ 2.5 LB: is not too heavy. A smaller size (11.6") could have made it a little lighter.+ With all the USB, SD, mini-HDMI, etc, it can do everything your regular laptop can do.Well it doesn't obviously address to Win 7 OS native issues - like hard to touch the window buttons, etc. But if one is looking for a Win 7 based tablet, this is an excellent choice. Also, Windows not having a Market Place like Android/Apple, the usage is still going to be PC type (Start --> Control Panel:)) So, if you don't…

I've had my unit for a couple of months now and for the most part I like it. However, the Slate has some problems.1. The 16x9 form factor is all but useless in portrait mode, it's simply too tall and gets very tiring to use it that way.2. The Ethernet port has disappeared from the unit, simply no longer there. I checked a few units at the Microsoft store, they too were missing the Ethernet card. So looks like there is something going on with the RealTec network card. Which come to think of it, everytime I've had network card problems they have been RealTec.3. Rotation has stopped working, in all fairness that may have been something I did, but it was working.4. The default load reserves 20 GB of the 120 GB space for a recovery partition, that's fine for 500 GB disks that cost under a $100, but on an SSD that's limited in space to start with that's criminal. Samsung, how about including a cheap flash disk with the software instead. On the positive side, the screen is very nice, the processor is very fast, startup is quick. If you can wait until late summer, I'd do that, the slate form factor is still pretty new and there are lots of innovations coming.

Samsung Series 7 XE700T1A-A01US 11.6-Inch Slate (64 GB, Win 7 HP) ordered from circuit city, couldn't wait for Amazon to restock. arrived in two days via UPS. first impression: awesome tablet. possibly the closest thing to my dream tablet. for some time i've been holding back from buying the convertible laptops/tablet because of size, weight and lack of processing power. was planning to get the ep121 until this came out. right now it's adequate for my needs such as drawing and multimedia. applied tweaks I found reading through the tablet PC forums and they helped a lot dealing with the loss of pressure sensitivity in programs like sketchbook pro after you install the recommended asus tablet pen driver to get pressure sensitivity in other programs like painter. that forum is a lifesaver.re. bezel issue: I observed my tablet has this problem upon unboxing, but thankfully it's very negligible on my device. it's been 3 days since I got it and it hasn't gotten worse like some other owners reported. other than that everything is perfect so far.now if only they release those accessories posthaste.note: typing this using the Swype application, pretty cool.

I've had my tablet for about a year now and at first I must say I absolutely loved it. Mine has an SSD with the i7 processor and the works but then the problems started to roll out. It boots up slower than my desktop that just has a HDD, there are problems with a lot of the programs including Microsoft Word to be the most annoying and the pen no longer works even though I've re-installed all the drivers. At first I was worried but I remembered I bought a lenovo so surely the customer support would help me out. WRONG! They just passed off the blame on every problem I had and did nothing, now my warranty has run out and they won't even talk to you without charging you even though it is problems they were supposed to address while it was still under warranty. Over all it's a hassle and it's just not worth spending that much money for nothing really.

I purchased this computer to be my off-site/client meeting computer because it was described as light weight and because it came with the touch sensitive screen. When I added the additional battery, the weight is not as light as i would have liked, but it is by no means heavy. My one issue with this computer is that it randomly reboots itself without any warning or indication. I am not sure if it is a hardware issue, software issue, or what the problem is. I have spoken with HP, but they claim it is a Windows problem. I spoke with Microsoft, but they claim it is a HP software problem. Regardless, I cannot use it effectively for the purpose I purchased it for because I cannot risk it rebooting in the middle of a meeting with a client.

There are some fantastic and incredibly thorough reviews written by other folks already--as of this writing there are fewer than 20 Amazon product reviews for the B121, so please do yourself a favor and read them all. They contain fantastic product information as well as tips on how to avoid various pitfalls and challenges. Thanks to the folks who posted a great deal of concise information and how to suggestions! For instance, I would not have known that booting up with a flash drive inserted in the port would cause an error without the info posted here in the reviews!I purchased my ASUS B121 in January of this year and have enjoyed it. It is a niche device that allows me to do some things that I couldn't accomplish on an iPad and allowed me to skate by without purchasing a beefy laptop. (A side note: I purchased my B121 directly from Microsoft and had a terrible experience with them--I recommend you use any other vendor!)I am a student and needed a portable device that would allow me to draw, as well as use productivity software -- the B121 has fit that niche quite perfectly. I have CS5.5 installed, as well as other software, and have not had any issues or lag or anything like that.I recommend maxing out on your mini HD card as well as whatever flash drives you choose to use.I also have an external hard drive and external disc drive I use in conjunction with the B121. For some of my coursework while traveling, I also used a USB-plug in supplemental speaker as well. When using…

This is the latest 3G Windows 10.2 inch Touch SCREEN to be released . With the iPAD being released in APRIL, there is so much hype about tablet PCs for the PC lovers. This D-RISE packs a bohemith list of rich features into a slim case. This picture above shows this TABLET PC WITH A large 10.2 Inch touch scren and we will try to list all the rest (if possible) for those of you whose mouths are drooling right about now - Compatible with 3G Networks, Bluetooth, Wifi, Mp3-Mp5, WebCam, 160GB Sata, etc.
I am no expert on computers, how ever I know what I like in one. I use my windows base computer for work. Mainly for data lookup and for my windows based programs which aren't available VIA addroid. The 10.2 screen is nice but I would perfer a 7" one. The unit over all is nice in principal. The speed is good but it really gets hot. It is very heavy so one hand holding is pretty much out of the question. It does every thing that a netbook does and more. I can't give technical specs because I am no expert. It comes with a leather case which helps make the heat bareable but the case looks good but it is very cheesy. As with any any windows base device, it is good to have a mini mouse handy for more percise selection of data. Over all I like the unit but, if I could I would combine the smallness of the Archos nine with the functional abilites of this unit (Less the heat factor of course). Until something more akind to what I really want becomes available, this will do nicely. PS- The battery life sucks (2 hrs). Hope this helps.

I was looking for a "total solution" that would enable me to take written client notes during sessions, view streaming Adobe Breeze courses, give me portable access to Blackboard to do grading and post documents easily, carry around during class to take notes, and use for media consumption during workouts at the gym. Therefore, I really, really wanted a tablet/touch pc. What I didn't think about as much about was that an equal part of my computer work involves typing long papers with picky formatting requirements and designing documents/presentations. Another review mentioned directly that entering information into the ep121 is NOT as convenient as with a regular laptop but I was not truly unprepared for the degree to which the Win 7 touch interface slows down productivity for certain kinds of work and, if I'd known, I would not have purchased the ep121 since that comprises about half of my workload. If you think that the comments about Win 7 not being appropriate for certain kinds of productivity are not accurate or are hoping (like I did) that you can somehow "make it work" for you, you may want to think again- very seriously. I believe that this tablet is best for people who don't need to type a lot. If you do, then prepare to sit with it propped up on a stand using your bluetooth keyboard and wondering why you bought such an expensive slate.Win 7 does not implement touch throughout all applications (even Microsoft ones) consistently. It frequently requires…

I'm a work at home programmer, and a dad. It's been my eternal quest to seek the most portable (yet powerful) device to do my job while on the go with my family. One morning, I was talking to my wife about how awesome it would be if I could take my MacBook Air, remove the keyboard/trackpad and embed the display there -- essentially an iPad that ran a real OS. Then have a docking port, so you could pop it in to get an external display/keyboard/mouse for a real "workstation" feel. I quipped that no one would make such a niche market device, as I did a Google search -- and lo and behold, I saw this tablet and was amazed. On the surface, this tablet is a marvelous assembly of technology - practically something that I would dream of as a kid.- Specs nearly identical to the 2011 MacBook Air 11" - 128GB of SSD space, 4GB of RAM, and a 135.09 PPI display.- Dockable to be a full workstation, and almost as light as an iPad. Lighter than any other laptop I've owned.- A real pressure-sensitive Wacom tablet. Not as accurate as my wife's Cintiq 21UX even after 3 calibration attempts, but still very decent.Let's start with the conclusion: I returned mine. Why?1) Use the right tool for the jobAs unfortunate as it is, this is the wrong tool for a programmer. I try adhering to the academic mantra: Programming is 90% thought, and 10% typing (I realize this is only applicable for certain situations, but humor me). Physical input shouldn't be a big deal as long as you think things out…

I have had this HP Slate for four months. I love having a tablet running windows. I also have an android tablet. And it has its place for playing games, web browsing, listening to music, etc. But you cannot beat a windows tablet for serious office work. Granted windows 7 isn't optimized for a tablet, but it still performs more than adequately. It is a little more sluggish than an android tablet, but I am sure windows 8 will address these minor issues. This is a great tablet and does what you have come to expect from a windows platform. It does not disappoint. Wifi is excellent, setup is a breeze. I am very happy with my slate.

Bought one of these to evaluate, and it unusable, the pop up keyboard hides the screen, windows 7 is NOT tablet friendly, trying to do simplest task like browse a web site in almost impossible with the pop up keyboard, and to add injury to insult to think this is worth $700 is insane. There is NO comparison to an IPad or an Android tablet, this is like comparing a fighter jet to the wright brothers biplane.I would have been to embarrassed to even put this on the market.I am stunned that Microsoft would even allow this machine to be sold, I would think that they would have tried to keep it off the market. And what is HP thinking? This is probably one of the worst devices of all time.
